Conflict Resolution: A Necessary Leadership Skill

In my perfect fantasy world, everyone gets along. Nobody fights. Everyone understands. However, in real life even God knew there would be conflicts. Do you know where your fights and arguments come from? They come from the selfish desires that war within you. James 4:1

Lets Be Risk Takers

The Bible is full of stories about risk takers. They make up our great heroes of the faith. They are the people who have stood against all odds to win the day, tried the impossible and accomplished it, did what had never been done before, and refused to give up their convictions for an easier way of life. Their stories are our inspirations.

The Patterns in our Lives

Back off far enough from the details of our daily lives and the
patterns of our lives can be seen. Patterns are like rhythms and
themes of a piece of music- they are the underlying structure that
makes a song the same each time it is performed. Whether we see them
or not, these are the patterns that establishes our behavior, attitudes
and character. And by their very nature they replicate themselves over
and over. Our life patterns follow us into new days, into new
relationships, into new endeavors, into new surroundings. Vaguely

Fulfill God Given Patterns

See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. Hebrews 8:5

….listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers is giving you. You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it… Deuteronomy 4:1, 2

God gives us His patterns for all aspects of our lives and endeavors so we can succeed in life and glorify His name.

Never Give Up

I have preached more than once on the theme of "SHIFT".  I am aware of the Lord's desire to shift things into a new gear for the road ahead.  As it works out, this message is also becoming a primary revelation in our own ministry as well.  In reviewing the last few years of ministry, Martha and I see a pattern of increased influence and activity.  Last year was full, and as things appear this year shall be fuller.  But we became aware of a need to shift from one level to another.  Our thoughts were along the lines that we could continue to move along at the pace and level of in

Real Change

In the interest of real change, consider the following thoughts. Real change begins within us before we can see it take place through us. If the changes are not affect the core of our being, outward changes will eventually give way to our unchanged inward realities. We will push and shove and sweat and strain to change things, but the essential values, expectations and outcomes will remain virtually untouched without the change being real in us. We are prone to think that if we can find the right strategy, set the right goals and enforce the new structure that we will change things.

God Given Mandates

After attending a CEO conference for Christian leaders in Boston, one thought has really gripped my heart. It is the thought of God given mandates.

In developing vision and strategies for our lives and ministries, we must consider what God given mandates are and which God given mandates have been given to us.

It Takes Courage

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

In case you haven’t noticed, it takes courage to walk by faith.  Trying to walk by faith without courage would be like going swimming always afraid you are going to drown.

Vision and Strategies

Leadership is a calling. All believers have some manifestation of this calling. Leadership is influence. All believers are called to influence others for Christ sake. Leadership can be developed. Leaders are learners. The articles in this section are given to inspire, instruct and engage you in your leadership calling.

Take Courage

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

In case you haven’t noticed, it takes courage to walk by faith. Trying to walk by faith without courage would be like going swimming always afraid you are going to drown.

Courage is an essential ingredient to our ability to do things that we have never done before. Without it, we are inclined to think about all the things that will not work out, be too hard, or be tormented by the fear of failure. Such things are overcome by courage.
